The Way of The Lovable Leader
How people-first managers lead high performing teams that are happier, more engaged, and more creative. Why this talk? Why now?
People are miserable” at work
According to recent studies conducted by Gallup, 60% of people are emotionally detached at work and 19% are miserable.
When 6 out of 10 people are emotionally detached and 1 out of every 5 are miserable, there’s a problem. With a problem so widespread, you would think the solution must be far out of reach or impractical.
Nothing could be further from the truth. We could eliminate the misery and get people re-engaged with a few small shifts in how we think and how we behave.
“People don’t leave jobs, they leave managers”
Year after year, people leave their jobs for three reasons more than anything else:
- they don’t like their managers
- they’re not paid enough
- they don’t see opportunities for advancement
Paying people more is straightforward…just do it. As for the other two, that’s why you need to be in the audience for this talk.
People Yearn For More
Research from Great Place To Work® indicates the following three questions will predict workplace turnover, regardless of generation or job type:
- Are you proud of where you work?
- Do you find meaning in your work?
- Do you have fun at work?
Strangely, we don’t train and assess managers on any of that.
Don’t worry if you don’t know where to start… I do.
The Way of The Lovable Leader
How people-first managers lead high performing teams that are happier, more engaged, and more creative.
For too many people, most of the estimated 81,396 hours spent at work, will be a seemingly endless source of stress, misery, and trauma. We’re a nation of people who are overworked, underpaid, and under-appreciated, doing work that feels meaningless, in order to make someone else wealthy, all while we struggle.
In spite of this we see…
- Headlines from people shocked and pearl clutching about why people are “Quiet Quitting.”
- Out of touch execs doing CNBC interviews from their weekday yacht bemoaning that “no one wants to work anymore.”
- Mandatory “Return to Office” policies as a thank you to all those people who kept the company afloat from their livingrooms during the pandemic.
All of this, is because we’ve created a culture that rewards leaders who people profits over people, and whose only strategy is to instill fear.
In this 50-minute keynote, Jeff will show you the three pillars of Lovable Leadership that can help new and seasoned managers create cultures that no one will want to leave. You will learn why so many managers struggle, and how you can fix it. You will learn a versatile communication framework that can help with everything from inspiring town halls to effective one-on-one meetings to resolve conflicts.
This talk will resonate with every human who has ever felt scared at work, who hid their gifts, or who frantically searched for a way out of the company they once loved. We can fix the culture, improve well-being, and improve our results, all without sacrificing anything except the desire to control others.
Are you ready to build your team with trust, respect, and kindness?
