First it was the newsfeed. (which Twitter pioneered)
Then it was the push towards being more open and public. (like Twitter)
Then it was a subscribe button, which then changed to a follow button (like Twitter)
Then it was lists. (like Twitter…and Google+)
Then it was interest lists (to mimic the interest graph, that Twitter does so well)
Then it was hashtags (another staple of the Twitterverse)
Then it was the creation of a short video sharing app (Vine vs Instagram)
If you really want to see Facebook’s playbook, just watch what Twitter is doing.
I may have the chronology of Facebook feature releases wrong, but you get the point. They all came after Twitter.
Twitter releases Periscope. Facebook releases Facebook Live.
Facebook now copying Snapchat. Snapchat pioneers Stories. Instagram releases an exact clone. Then Facebook Messenger, Facebook, and WhatsApp all release a Stories format.
