Purpose, Leadership, and Potential

Hi, I’m Jeff, and this is my blog. If you’re new here, or have been reading for a while without being totally clear on what this blog is about, let me explain…

I primarily write about three different topics:

  • Living a Purpose-Driven Life
  • Showing Heroic & Lovable Leadership
  • Unlocking Humxn Potential

I write about these three topics to empower you to become more clear, powerful, and prepared so that you have the tools you need to live the life you want…ideally in service of making the world a better place.

I want to inspire deep thinking about the state of the world and the state of our lives. I want to encourage you to question things more often. I want you to think about what you can control, what you can influence, and what you are currently forced to accept and to understand the different between those three things. I write this blog for the one more person that wants to take more ownership over the course of their life, rather than automatically reacting to circumstance.

What to expect…

I generally take a business-focused lens on my blog because, well, that is the natural habitat of those that hire me. That said, you can expect the flavor of this blog to be roughly equal parts business advice and business criticism.

  • I’m an advocate for labor, not owners.
  • I’m an advocate for leaders, not bosses.
  • I’m an advocate for work as part of one’s life purpose, not a job, taxes, and death as the pinnacle of humxn experience.

Sometimes I’ll talk about business and offer thoughts and ideas related to strategy, brand, digital marketing, and sales. Other times, I’ll talk about our lives outside of work and the reasons we work in the first place. I often write about technology and the impact it makes on our lives and careers.

Why you read this blog…

You read this blog because it’s real.

I don’t pull punches. I don’t sugarcoat. I don’t BS, brag, or boast. I’m not trying to impress you. I like to write and I like to give away any knowledge I’ve acquired or have stumbled across.

This is why I relentlessly try to pack as much value into my content as possible. In some cases, it’s dumping everything I know about a subject on you, like my Social Media Strategy post. In other cases, the value I’m trying to provide is challenging you to think about the issues I’m raising in a post.

I want you to think about why you do what you do at work or at home. I want you to recognize how little time each of us have on this Earth and encourage you to make the most of that time to leave your mark on history. So, if you’re starting a company, I’m going to ask you WHY?

I want you to think about your own leadership, regardless of your title. I want you to think about how you show up and how you bring out the best in others.

I want you to think about the culture you work in and the humxn beings you work with. I want you to consider your role in that environment. More importantly, I want you to see how systems work and, where appropriate, advocate that you replace it with better, more equitable systems.

I want you to recognize how much potential there is in you. I may know you, I may not, but I do know that growth is a process, not a God-given gift. Anyone can do it. It’s not a magic fix. It doesn’t guarantee that you can do anything, but it does guarantee that you can be better than you are now, and I want you to see how being smarter, stronger, and more capable makes you more prepared for anything you want to attempt.

I want you as a subscriber

Twice per week, on Mondays and Thursdays, I release a new blog post. I want you to get it in your email so you see it when it comes out, and I want you to read it.

I’d love it if, after reading it, you emailed me or left a comment telling me what you think. I’d love for you to agree, and just as much for you to disagree. It might even be cool for you to come on my podcast, Shareable, and have an in-depth discussion about the topic. In short, I want this blog to be the start of a dialogue, not another monologue floating around in the ether of the world wide web.

I want to start conversations of consequence that help us change the world around us to make it kinder, safer, and more equitable. I want you to have a good life and find joy and purpose in what you do.

That’s what all of this is about, and if you dig that mission, I hope you’ll come with me on this journey through 2021.
